The last great wilderness area in Great Britain and accessible only by boat or a 20 mile walk.

Our Wild Knoydart expedition explores Scotlands ‘Rough Bounds’ via Scotlands deepest fresh water loch, Loch Morar, home of the mythical monster ‘Morag’ who after Nessie, is among the most written about of Scotland's legendary monsters. A 1k portage will then take us into Loch Nevis, a magnificent sea loch surrounded by mountains, great scenery and remote camp sites and bothy’s. Journeying through the narrows of Kylesknoydart to the sandy beaches at the head of the loch.

Our final paddling day will see us heading out towards the Sea and the remote village of Inverie. With no road access this can be a lively little village, providing us with the opportunity to enjoy a welcome pint in Britain’s remotest Pub. Following a relaxing start to our final day we will return to Mallaig and journeys end taking

advantage of the coastal ferry that supports and links this remote area to ‘mainland’ Scotland.

This is a committing trip and requires paddlers to have some previous experience of Canoeing. Weather and particularly winds can affect our daily plans and progress.

What is Included

4 nights wild camping (single or two-person)
All meals, from lunch on the day of arrival through to lunch on the day of departure
All transport, starting and finishing in Aviemore
The services of at least one experienced and knowledgeable canoe mentor/driver throughout your trip
All group equipment, including tents, group safety equipment and cooking/eating equipment and utensils

Day by Day Itinerary (dependent on weather and water levels).

Day 1 – Meet Fort William, transfer to Morar

This morning we will meet in Fort William and then transfer to the coastal village of Morar and our put-in for the Loch . After loading the boats with everything we need for the following days of

adventure we take to the water and paddle to our first camp-site, surrounded by wild country and towering mountains. (L, D)

Day 2 – Paddling Loch Morar

Explore Loch Morar passing small islands heading towards South Target Bay making use of

weather and water conditions .

Day 3 – Portage into Loch Nevis

Explore Loch Nevis passing through the narrows of Kylesknoydart towards the head of the Loch

and Sourlies Bothy.

Day 4 – Loch Nevis

Starting our journey out towards the Sea and village of Inverie, making use of weather and water

conditions and inspired by nature and imagination.

Day 5 – The Village of Inverie

On our final days paddle we will paddle westwards down an ever widening loch to the remote

village of Inverie and our last night camp.

Day 6 -

We’ll enjoy a leisurely breakfast and maybe a little time enjoying the village before taking the ferry

back along the coast to Mallaig and the onward drive to Fort William, arriving early afternoon.

Note –

This trip is very dependent on the prevailing conditions and there may be times when we have to

review and amend our plans due to the safety of group participants. In this case we will adjust our

itinerary accordingly.

6 nights accommodation
All meals, from lunch on day of arrival through to breakfast on day of departure. (Meals included indicated as B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner)
All transport throughout the trip, starting at Aviemore and finishing at Stirling Railway Stations.
The services of experienced and knowledgeable canoe guides / driver throughout your trip.
All specialist open canoe equipment, including canoes and buoyancy aids.

As a paddlesport coach and outdoor educator. Chris is known for delivering engaging, real-world learning both in formal education and adventure sport coaching settings. With a strong background paddling on inland waters from Utah to the Zanskar, and coastal waters ranging from North Africa to Greenland. He brings experience, energy, empathy and authenticity to every session and prioritises your needs to ensure you get the most out of every session.

James Dyer

James is an award-winning leadership coach with nearly 30 years of experience leading teams in remote and challenging environments. A Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and a recognised professional with the Institute of Outdoor Learning, he brings valuable real-world insight to his coaching, helping individuals and organisations grow with confidence and purpose.

Andy Hall

Andy brings decades of experience across climbing, kayaking, skiing, and outdoor education. After 20 years as a head teacher at an outdoor cenatre in North Wales, he now splits his time between ski teaching in Italy and guiding across Scotland’s mountains, coasts, and rivers. His adventures have taken him from Arctic river expeditions to Nepal and Patagonia, but his heart remains in the Cairngorms, where he continues to explore and share his passion for the outdoors.
