Stay Well, Explore More

Looking after your health and well-being is an important part of any expedition or outdoor adventure. Good personal hygiene, staying healthy, and being prepared for minor challenges can make a significant difference to your comfort, confidence, and enjoyment throughout the journey. Developing these habits helps participants remain focused on the experience and better prepared for the demands of outdoor living.

We believe outdoor experiences should be inclusive and accessible for everyone. Understanding how to care for yourself and support others helps create a safe, positive, and welcoming environment where all participants can fully engage in the adventure.

First Aid Awareness

Having a basic understanding of first aid can help participants respond confidently to minor incidents and support the well-being of the group. While qualified instructors will provide guidance and carry appropriate first aid equipment, developing awareness of common expedition-related injuries and illnesses can help participants feel more prepared.

Each group will have access to shared first aid equipment, but participants may wish to bring personal items that meet their individual needs. If you have allergies, sensitivities, medical conditions, or specific requirements, it is important to discuss these with your expedition leaders before attending. Inclusive adventures begin with understanding and planning for individual needs.

Foot Care & Blister Prevention

Your feet are one of your most valuable assets on an expedition. Looking after them properly can help prevent discomfort and allow you to enjoy your journey more fully. Well-fitting footwear, suitable walking socks, and gradual preparation before your expedition can all help reduce the risk of developing blisters.

Even with careful preparation, blisters can sometimes occur during longer journeys. Learning to recognise early signs of discomfort and taking action quickly can prevent small issues from becoming bigger problems. Developing good foot care habits supports wellbeing, confidence, and continued participation throughout the expedition.

Managing Personal Health Needs

Everyone experiences outdoor adventures differently, and personal health needs can vary greatly from one participant to another. Being prepared and bringing any personal items, medication, or health-related supplies you may require helps ensure a more comfortable and enjoyable experience.

We are committed to creating inclusive environments where participants feel comfortable discussing their needs. Whether related to medication, medical conditions, periods, sensory requirements, or personal well-being, our instructors are there to provide support and help participants access the assistance they need throughout the expedition.

Personal Hygiene in the Outdoors

Maintaining good personal hygiene is an important part of staying healthy during an expedition. Outdoor environments may not always provide the facilities available at home, which means participants often need to adapt and plan ahead. Small actions such as washing hands, changing into dry clothing, and staying hydrated can make a significant difference to comfort and well-being.

Good hygiene practices also help protect the health of the wider group. By taking responsibility for personal cleanliness and following guidance from instructors, participants help create a positive and inclusive environment where everyone can enjoy their outdoor experience safely and confidently.

Hydration & Wellbeing

Staying hydrated is essential when taking part in outdoor activities. Walking, paddling, climbing, and other expedition activities increase the body's need for fluids, particularly during warm weather or physically demanding days. Drinking regularly throughout the day helps maintain energy levels, concentration, and overall well-being.

Listening to your body and recognising signs of tiredness, dehydration, or discomfort is an important outdoor skill. Participants are encouraged to take responsibility for their own well-being while supporting others within the group. A collaborative and inclusive approach helps everyone enjoy a safer and more rewarding experience.

Respecting Nature & Leave No Trace

Outdoor adventures provide opportunities to connect with nature and explore beautiful landscapes. With this opportunity comes a responsibility to minimise our impact on the environment. Following Leave No Trace principles helps protect natural spaces and ensures future generations can continue to enjoy them.

Responsible hygiene practices are also part of caring for the environment. Proper disposal of waste, thoughtful use of facilities, and respect for natural habitats all contribute to sustainable outdoor experiences. Every participant has a role to play in protecting the places we visit and ensuring adventures remain inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.

Healthy Adventures Together

Looking after your health and wellbeing is an important part of every successful expedition. By preparing appropriately, developing good habits, and supporting one another, participants can build confidence, resilience, and independence while enjoying the outdoors.

We believe outdoor adventures should be inclusive and accessible for everyone. By creating supportive environments where participants can care for themselves, respect others, and ask for support when needed, we help ensure every adventure becomes a positive and rewarding experience.
