Meet Our Team

Suresh Paul
Current Director and Principal Advocate

Suresh Paul, PhD, is founder and director of Equal Adventure Developments Ltd and Principal Advocate for Equal Adventure Registered Charity.

His early interest in outdoor adventure activities saw him sitting at the bottom of an abseil watching children with arthritis struggling to cope with the discomfort from the use of a standard climbing harness. This led to his inspiration for the first of over sixty products, the Kite I climbing harness.
Following several years of coaching and one year at the Falmouth School of Art, he completed a BA (Hons) degree in Design with Applied Technology at Sheffield Hallam University and set about his professional life. He launched and ran the Adventure Designs Project at Brunel University, legacies from which form the basis of Equal Adventure.
Throughout this time, Suresh took part and led a number of inclusive expeditions in the UK and further afield. These not only gave him a wealth of personal experiences but provided invaluable research for equipment design and development, leadership styles and tools to improve inclusion in outdoor adventure activities.
In 2010, Suresh completed his PhD, which examined the creation of resources and coaching strategies to improve access to adventure sport and active lifestyles with disabled people. He spent eight years being Technical Adviser to the Battle Back Centre, and Research Fellow at Leeds Beckett University.
Suresh continues to help drive Equal Adventure forward and is now a visiting Professor for the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Helen Graham
Production manager

Helen is all things fabric at Equal Adventure, and is also able to turn her hand to anything in production and design.

Having completed an HND in Fashion Design and Clothing Technology at Kent Institute of Art and Design, Helen ‘learnt her trade’ at PAM’s of Gainsborough, a wholesale costume design house. In her divergent role as Production Manager she was responsible for a team of ten seamstresses, she organised catwalk shows, collections, photo shoots and displays at trade shows. She has applied all those skills, and more, here at Equal Adventure, improving the quality and efficiency of our in-house production.
Outside of work her interests are wide and varied - First Response first aider, Guide Association leader, walker and life-long student of contemporary art and retro fashion including Vinyl and Vespas!

Sara Paul
HR, Finance and Communication

Sara Paul is a Director of Equal Adventure Developments Ltd.

Having fulfilled her ambition to become manager of a leisure centre, Sara went on to work for a national disability sport charity, before focussing her attention to the fitness sector. She taught exercise sessions in the top London health clubs, as well as specialist health-related sessions for the London Boroughs of Camden and Islington (exercise referral, cardiac rehab, falls prevention). As a tutor, Sara worked first for YMCA Fitness Industry Training, where she was one of the drivers behind the first course designed to increase exercise class and gym usage by disabled people. She wrote a book on the subject, "Training Disabled People", and became the lead trainer to the Inclusive Fitness Initiative. Sara has also worked for over 10 years with Later Life Training, during which time she has not only tutored and assessed on all their courses, but been involved with writing curriculum and developing qualifications. During this time, Sara also set up a yoga teacher training organisation, co-writing the course and setting up all the administrative and endorsement procedures.
Sara is able to bring this wealth of experience within fitness and training administration to Equal Adventure.
