One Community, One Purpose: Equal Adventure Raises £270 for Flood-Affected Communities in Nepal
Making a Difference, Together
At Equal Adventure, we believe that adventure has the power to bring people together for more than just shared experiences. It can build connections, inspire action and help communities support one another when it matters most.
At Equal Adventure, we believe that adventure has the power to bring people together for more than just shared experiences. It can build connections, inspire action and help communities support one another when it matters most.
On Sunday, 20 September 2026, the Equal Adventure community came together for a special fundraising challenge in support of people affected by the devastating floods in Nepal. Through walking, paddling and individual challenges, participants and supporters joined forces to raise funds for relief efforts and show solidarity with communities facing difficult circumstances.
We are delighted to share that, together, we raised £270 — approximately NPR 54,500.
This achievement reflects the generosity of everyone who donated, participated, encouraged others or helped make the event possible. Although the amount may seem modest compared with the scale of the challenges facing affected communities, it represents something important: people coming together with compassion and a shared determination to help.
A Community United Through Adventure
The fundraising event invited people to take on a challenge in a way that suited their interests, abilities and circumstances. Participants could walk, kayak or canoe at Loch Insh, while others were encouraged to organise their own activities wherever they were.
The aim was simple: everyone could get involved, regardless of their previous outdoor experience.
Some chose to explore the beautiful surroundings of Loch Insh on foot, while others took to the water for a paddle. The event welcomed disabled and non-disabled participants, reflecting Equal Adventure’s commitment to making outdoor activities more inclusive and accessible.
There was no requirement to be an experienced walker or paddler. Participants could choose their own distance, activity and level of challenge, knowing that every effort contributed to a shared purpose. The event demonstrated how outdoor activities can become a platform for something bigger than the activity itself. A walk can become an opportunity to raise awareness. A paddle can help bring people together. A community event can turn individual contributions into collective action.
Every step, every paddle and every donation helped support the cause.
Supporting People Affected by Floods in Nepal
What Can a Contribution Mean?
To put the fundraising total into perspective, the campaign used a reference figure of approximately NPR 15,000 in government relief payments for severely affected families.
Flooding can have devastating consequences for families and communities. Homes can be damaged, livelihoods disrupted and access to essential services affected. For people already facing financial or practical difficulties, recovering from such events can be especially challenging.
Through this fundraising initiative, Equal Adventure aimed to contribute towards relief efforts for those affected by the floods in Nepal, with the funds intended for the Prime Minister’s Fund.
The £270 raised is approximately NPR 54,500, providing a contribution towards wider relief efforts. While we recognise that recovery requires substantial resources and long-term support, we hope this contribution can help support people facing hardship.
The campaign was also an opportunity to remind our community that compassion does not have to be limited by geographical distance. Even when people are separated by thousands of miles, collective action can demonstrate solidarity and a willingness to help.
What Can a Contribution Mean?
To put the fundraising total into perspective, the campaign used a reference figure of approximately NPR 15,000 in government relief payments for severely affected families.
Using that figure for illustration, NPR 51,000 would be equivalent to around three such payments. Our total of approximately NPR 54,500 is in a similar range.
However, this is an illustrative comparison rather than confirmation of the amount any particular family will receive. Eligibility, payment arrangements and the assistance available can vary, and the actual impact of the funds depends on how relief is distributed.
The important point is that every contribution adds to the resources available to support people in need. Small donations, when brought together, can become a meaningful collective contribution.
A Huge Thank You to Loch Insh
We would like to extend a special thank you to our friends at Loch Insh for their support and for helping us bring the community together for this fundraising initiative. The natural surroundings of Loch Insh provided a wonderful setting for participants to connect through outdoor activities while supporting an important cause.
We are equally grateful to everyone who donated, joined a walk or paddle, took on an individual challenge, shared the fundraising message or encouraged others to participate. Fundraising events rely on more than the people who take part on the day. They also depend on those who help spread the word, give their time, offer support and make others feel welcome.
To everyone who played a part, thank you. Your generosity and encouragement helped make this event possible.
Adventure with a Purpose
Inclusive adventure is at the heart of Equal Adventure's work. We believe that everyone should have opportunities to experience the outdoors, develop confidence, connect with others and discover what they can achieve.
This fundraising event brought that spirit into a wider community effort. It showed how outdoor experiences can encourage people to look beyond themselves, support others and take action on issues that matter.
By offering different ways to participate, the challenge reflected our belief that meaningful involvement should not depend on a person's ability, experience or location. Everyone can contribute in their own way.
The event also reminded us that community is built through shared values as much as shared activities. Whether someone joined us on the water, completed a walk, donated from home or helped spread the message, their involvement formed part of a collective effort.
Looking Ahead
Raising £270 for relief efforts in Nepal is an achievement we are proud to share. More importantly, it reflects the generosity and spirit of the Equal Adventure community.
We hope this initiative encourages more people to consider how their interests, skills and everyday activities can help support others. A personal challenge can become a community effort, and a community effort can help bring attention and resources to people who need them.
We will continue to celebrate opportunities that bring people together through inclusive outdoor experiences, community participation and shared purpose.
One Community. One Purpose. Supporting Nepal.
Thank you to everyone who helped make our Nepal fundraising challenge a success.
To our donors, participants, volunteers, supporters and friends at Loch Insh: your contribution mattered, and we are grateful for every part you played.
Together, we walked, paddled and gave in support of people affected by the floods in Nepal. We may not be able to solve every challenge, but we can choose to stand alongside others and do what we can.
💚 One community. One purpose. A collective effort to make a difference.
