Inclusive Open Bronze Expeditions allow participants to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Expedition Section while learning practical outdoor skills, building confidence, making new friends, and experiencing real adventure.

At Equal Adventure Developments, we believe expeditions are about much more than walking from A to B. They are about:
  • Building confidence
  • Developing independence
  • Learning teamwork
  • Problem solving
  • Growing leadership skills
  • Experiencing adventure in the outdoors.

How Our Inclusive Bronze Programme Works

Over recent years, the expedition journey for Bronze participants has evolved to create a more accessible and supportive experience. To make the process simpler and more manageable, participants can now complete their full Bronze Expedition Section through a condensed 3-day programme, allowing everything to be completed within one supportive adventure experience.

Day 1 – Expedition Skills & Preparation
The first day focuses on building confidence and preparing participants for the journey ahead. Through practical and engaging sessions, participants will explore key expedition skills including navigation, route planning, campcraft, teamwork, equipment use, and emergency procedures. Later in the day, participants head outdoors for a short practical journey to put learning into action and build confidence in a real environment.

Days 2 & 3 – Qualifying Expedition Journey
Participants and their team then begin their 2-day qualifying expedition, supported throughout by experienced staff and assessed by a qualified DofE Accredited Assessor.
Along the journey, participants develop independence, communication, teamwork, and decision-making skills while experiencing adventure in the outdoors together. At the end of the expedition, teams reflect on their experience and present their journey, allowing all aspects of the Expedition Section to be completed. We believe expeditions are about much more than achieving an award — they are opportunities to build confidence, create friendships, and discover what is possible.

Programme Cost: £195 per participant
