Looking Back at RGS Explore 2024

community everybodyoutdoors inclusion inclusiveadventure

Looking back at Equal Adventure’s experience at RGS (with ibg) Explore Conference 2024, there are some important reflections that the team has shared since the last conference in 2022. Increasing inclusivity is all about asking questions: Who is not involved in your project? Who are you not communicating with? If you want to be more inclusive with everybody in expeditions, fieldwork, and geography, it is important to think about who you are planning with, who you are delivering with, and who is not in the room.

Equal Adventure understands that some people need more resources, and Equal Adventure understands that specialised equipment is really equipment that you just use less often, or that needs to be specifically tailored.

Equal Adventure offers training and consultancy courses because we understand that some people need a learning place to explore ways that they can operate safely in an expedition and fieldwork environment. Some people just need a bit of advice to help develop field skills so that they can fully focus on the education that comes from fieldwork.

Inclusion and environmentalism are one in the same. It is all about making sure that people understand that it is our shared responsibility to look after the environment, and the planet. Instead of pointing fingers, we need to shake hands.
