The easy-on Tarka Poncho and Apron is designed primarily with a number of full and part-time wheelchair users and electric wheelchair users who wanted to have a garment that would keep the rain off without the need to put on a full set of waterproofs. While designing and creating centre waterproofs for all, there was no question of taking the pattern from previous waterproofs, with its robust and comfortable features, and designing waterproofs with full and part-time wheelchair users. The Tarka Poncho has a large velcro opening, and velcro side adjustments that fan out when open, and fit snug when folded in. To minimise water pooling in wrinkles, the poncho is shorter in the front and longer at the back. The Tarka Apron fits under the chair with an elasticated hem and a safety strap at the bottom, which ensures that the legs are completely covered from the elements. These features of the Tarka system work together to create effective, comfortable, easy to use waterproofs by wheelchair users, and seated outdoor enthusiasts and performers alike. The team at EA Developments understands that every individual deserves equipment that keeps them safe and meets their needs.
Nigel Winser, Earthwatch Europe Ambassador, Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), and friend of Equal Adventure Developments, recently shared his experience with the Tarka waterproof:
“The Tarka waterproof served me well while exploring the foothills of Cairngorms on my Equal Adventure BOMA mobility wheelchair in the spring of 2024. It gave me plenty of arm movement and the wide base made it was easy for me to slip on and off over my head”.
Equal Adventure Developments understands that, for some, getting outside requires extra protection from the elements, or just an easy-on waterproof so that they can stay longer in outdoor spaces, and get ready quickly and stress-free. For more information click here!
